Learn How 3D Optical Metrology Can Help Optimise Manufacturing Processes

By GOM UK
schedule9th Oct 20

Within the last few months, we have received many questions from the casting & foundry industry about how 3D optical metrology can help optimise their manufacturing processes. GOM Global ran a series of webinars earlier in 2020 to help answer these questions and now GOM UK.

Measuring systems from GOM are used in sand, pressure die and investment casting processes to guarantee consistent quality assurance: from simulation verification, via accelerating tool try-out and first article inspection, up to production control and CNC machining. We are running a series of informative webinars covering how experts within the casting industry can use metrology to optimise their production processes.

GOM systems allow for inspection planning based on design data. In pattern and mould making, the targeted correction of tools and models and the inspection of fitting of mould halves, cores and sliders are possible. During try-out, cast parts are checked for shape and dimension: part geometry, material thickness, shrinkage and warpage. All measuring and inspection processes are automated for production quality control.

During our two-part webinar, we will share the functions and features of the GOM software and new developments in 3D metrology based on examples from daily practice.
